A plan for a ryotei restaurant in a corner of a new town. The theme was how to create the atmosphere of a ryotei on a site that is not quite large enough.
The roof is divided into three sections to match the scale of the residential area and to reduce the scale. A gate at the entrance creates a boundary with the outside, and the approach to the front door is an alleyway space, creating the atmosphere of a ryotei restaurant. The interior is designed to maintain a warm atmosphere with extensive use of wood, while at the same time maintaining a sense of prestige.
